After India’s openers Rohit Sharma and Shikhar Dhawan put on a century stand, England’s spinners put the brakes on the hosts with four quick wickets before Rishabh Pant’s explosive 78 rescued the situation for India.
Pant hit his half-century with three sixes and three fours in 44 balls. Rishabh Pant counter-attacked brilliantly along with Hardik Pandya, helping the hosts fight back. Pant however could not complete what would have been a well-deserved century when he was been dismissed for 78 by Sam Curran. This score, however, is Pant’s highest in an ODI. Soon after, Hardik completed his fifty.
The dismissal of Rishabh Pant brought the visitors in the front seat in the ongoing decider as the run-rate became slow down after his departure.
