IND vs ENG: After winning the five-match T20I series 4-1 against England, the Indian men’s cricket team will now play a three-match ODI series against the England team, led by Jos Buttler.

The three 50-over IND vs ENG matches will be held in Nagpur, Cuttack, and Ahmedabad on February 6, 9, and 12. These matches will help both teams prepare for the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, which will take place from February 19 to March 9 in Pakistan and Dubai.

IND vs ENG ODI Series: Preview and Dates

Rohit Sharma, who struggled with form in the last three Test series, will captain the Indian team in the three ODIs. Key players like Virat Kohli, KL Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, and Kuldeep Yadav are also returning for the 50-over matches. However, many of the top performers from the recent T20I series won’t be playing in India’s first ODI series of 2025.

Top Performers from T20I Series Miss Out on IND vs ENG6 ODI Squad

OUT: Ten players from the T20I squad will not be part of the ODI series against England. These players are Sanju Samson, Abhishek Sharma, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, Ravi Bishnoi, Varun Chakravarthy, Shivam Dube, Ramandeep Singh, Rinku Singh, and Dhruv Jurel.

Among them, Samson, Abhishek, Tilak, Surya, Bishnoi, and Chakravarthy played all five T20I matches. Ramandeep didn’t play any match, while Jurel and Dube appeared in two matches, and Rinku played three T20Is.

Inclusions: Star Players Return for the IND vs ENG ODI Series

IN: Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli, Shubman Gill, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Ravindra Jadeja, Rishabh Pant, and KL Rahul are back in the Indian team for the ODI series after last playing in the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy. Star spinner Kuldeep Yadav, who last played for India in the first Test against New Zealand in October 2024, and Shreyas Iyer, who last played on August 7, 2024, against Sri Lanka, are also included in the ODI squad.

Retained Players: Key Members Keep Their Spot

Retained players: Mohammed Shami, Hardik Pandya, Axar Patel, Washington Sundar, Arshdeep Singh, and Harshit Rana, who played in the T20I series, have been kept in the ODI squad as well. While Pandya, Shami, and Arshdeep are expected to start, it will be interesting to see which of the remaining players get a chance to play in the upcoming matches.
