IND vs NZ 3rd Test, struggles of Wankhade pitch

A total of 14 wickets fell on the first day of the ongoing third Test between India and New Zealand and these figures clearly show what the Wankhede pitch is like. On such a pitch, Rohit Sharma once again lost the toss, which made it clear that India would come to bat when the pitch conditions would be very difficult for the batsmen.

Looking at the nature of the pitch, New Zealand captain Tom Latham had decided to bat first. Due to Ravindra Jadeja’s excellent five-wicket haul, India was able to bowl out the guests for just 235. This was Jadeja’s 14th five-wicket haul in Test cricket. Will Young and Daryl Mitchell played fine half-century innings for New Zealand. However, in response, they too have lost four wickets for a score of just 86.

India’s bowling was very good, in which apart from Jadeja, Washington Sundar also bowled brilliantly and took four wickets. But their poor performance in the batting order continued in this match as well. Captain Rohit Sharma’s poor form continued here as well and he was caught out in the slip on a bouncing ball from Matt Henry on a personal score of just 18. Yashasvi was bowled while trying to hit a reverse sweep.

When he was out, the day’s play was just 2-3 overs away from ending. After that Mohammad Siraj was sent as a night watchman, but he was LBW on the very first ball. Siraj’s dismissal was not a matter of concern for India, but in the very next over Kohli was run out, due to which the Indian team is completely in a whirlpool of difficulties.

IND vs NZ, New Zealand’s innings face trouble against spin

The biggest partnership from New Zealand was of 87 runs between Young and Mitchell. Young scored 71 runs, hitting his first half-century on this tour. Mitchell was also not looking in form for some time, but he played an important innings of 81 runs on the difficult pitch of Mumbai. Apart from this, he also made small partnerships with the tail-enders, due to which the New Zealand team was able to reach a respectable score on this pitch.

If India wants to win this Test, then they will have to bat very well tomorrow. First of all, they have to cross New Zealand’s first innings score and after that, if India gets a lead of 50 runs, it will be even better. Gill remained on the field till the end of the day’s play, and his eyes were set. The Indian team will be expecting a big innings from him tomorrow.
