Fourteen-year-old opener Vaibhav Suryavanshi stole the spotlight in the ACC Men’s Asia Cup Rising Stars 2025 on Friday, November 14. Playing on Children’s Day, the young sensation smashed the United Arab Emirates bowling attack at the West End Park International Cricket Stadium in Doha and delivered a performance fans will remember for a long time.

A Fiery Start from Vaibhav Suryavanshi

India A won the toss in their second match of the tournament and chose to bat first. The opening pair of Vaibhav Suryavanshi and Priyansh Arya, two promising young hitters, walked out with high expectations of fireworks.

The beginning, however, was calmer than expected. On the fourth ball of the second over, bowled by Muhammad Rohid Khan, Priyansh Arya was run out after scoring 10 off 6 balls.

From there, it turned into a one-man show. Vaibhav Suryavanshi shifted gears instantly and unleashed a fierce attack on the UAE bowlers, leaving his batting partner, Naman Dhir, watching in admiration from the other end. His fearless hitting carried him to a rapid century, reaching the milestone in only 32 balls.

A Record-Breaking Innings

Even after crossing the three-figure mark, Vaibhav Suryavanshi showed no signs of slowing down. He continued his aggressive approach until the 13th over when Muhammad Farazuddin finally dismissed him on the third ball of the over. By then, he had hammered 144 runs off just 42 deliveries, smashing 11 fours and 15 sixes.

At one stage, it felt like he was racing toward a double century, but he fell short. Still, he managed to shatter multiple records.

The young left-hander became the only batter to score two T20 hundreds in under 35 balls. He also became the first cricketer to hit a century for India A in a T20 match.

At just 14 years and 232 days old, Vaibhav Suryavanshi is now the youngest player to score a hundred for a men’s national representative team. His strike rate of 324.85 stands as the fourth-highest for any men’s T20 hundred.

An incredible 134 of his 144 runs came in boundaries, a massive 93.05 percent. Only three players in T20 history have scored more runs through fours and sixes in a single match.

With centuries already in the IPL, Youth ODI, Youth Test, and now the Asia Cup, Suryavanshi is putting serious pressure on the Ajit Agarkar-led BCCI selection committee to consider him for the senior team despite his age.
