In reaction, the Zimbabwe national cricket team began cautiously, scoring 44 in the powerplay. A gritty 97* from 59 balls by Brian Bennett was the highlight of the Zimbabwe side. He also scored a 72-run partnership with Raza to give some hope. However, death bowling by India ensured that Zimbabwe never really threatened the chase.
