Indian skipper Rohit Sharma looked visibly frustrated. His main bowler, Deepak Chahar conceded just 9 runs in his first two overs. However, Chahar’s last over went for 24 runs, with David Miller hitting three sixes. It spoke in length about India’s dismal show in bowling.

Earlier, number three batter Rilee Rossouw smashed his way to his first century in T20 cricket. He scored 100 off 48 balls. Rossouw found perfect allies in Quinton de Kock (68) and Triston Stutts (23), as South Africa raced to 227/3 in 20 overs.

Holkar Cricket Stadium in Indore is a small ground, which has even smaller boundaries. It made the batting easier for South Africa. However, Indian bowlers erred in their line and length. That made the South African jobs easy. The pacers bowled easy full tosses, as they missed the length. It was a pitch that was totally made for the batters. Indian fielders dropped some catches, and it make things more difficult.

How do Indian bowlers fare in the final T20I?

Barring R Ashwin, all the bowlers went for over ten runs in an over. Deepak Chahar, Harshal Patel, Mohammed Siraj, and Umesh Yadav – all of them went for plenty. Earlier, Arshdeep Singh was rested to give all pacers an opportunity before the T20 World Cup. But none of them could make the chances count.

In the last two games, India’s bowlers picked only three wickets apiece. Their lack of wicket-taking also is a cause for worry for team management. None of the bowlers are in form, with Arshdeep a sole exception, but went for 62 runs from 4 overs in the last match. Interestingly, Rohit Sharma only gave one over to Axar Patel, who was the highest wicket-taker in the series against Australia.

Can Indian bowlers bounce back?

At present, none of the bowlers have ensured their place in the starting eleven for the World Cup. Arshdeep and Axar may get the nod ahead, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar too may find his place at the starting eleven.

However, there is no clarity about the third seamer. If Shami is picked, it is likely that he’ll take the new ball alongside Bhuvi. Meanwhile, India has a lot to ponder. Because their bowlers are misfiring consistently.
