India’s match against Oman would probably bring an end to their Covid-19 exile from International football, which has lasted for over a year. Things, however, are going to be a little different this time.
Indian football team coach Igor Stimac interacted with the media ahead of the International football match between Oman and India on Thursday. He spoke about the selection of the players for the Indian football team, including other statements.
“When I became the National Team coach, I even mentioned to Sunil that he also needs to fight for his position. This fight goes on forever. Without this continuous fight, there is no success,” Stimac said.
“I cannot rely on the past. I can select the squad based on past results, but those players need to work hard. We closely monitor them, and then discuss which players fit into the starting XI,” he continued.
The Indian football team will hopefully make it to the Asian World Cup 2023, after being out of the race to advance to the next round of the FIFA World Cup 2022.
“Our target, from the beginning has been to qualify for the AFC Asian Cup. We have three games left in this stage of the Qualifiers. We are trying to provide enough time for the players to put in quality work before those games,” Igor Stimac stated.
Igor Stimac seems confident about winning against Oman as he says that he has seen Oman play against Jordan (March 20), they are patient and do not take risks and the Indian team will find a way to do well against their style of lay.
