Intercontinental Cup is a four-nation tournament. It is a prestigious football competition organised by the All India Football Federation (AIFF). The Intercontinental Cup was introduced by the AIFF to replace the Nehru Cup which was last held in 2012. The 2023 edition of the Intercontinental Cup will be the third edition.
India won in the first edition in 2018 by defeating Kenya in the finals with a 2-0 margin. While North Korea won the second edition in 2019 by defeating Tajikistan in the final with a 1-0 margin.
India will be the host country for the tournament. All matches will be played at the Kalinga Stadium in Bhubaneswar, Odisha. The Kalinga Stadium has a seating capacity of nearly 15,000 people. The previous two editions were also hosted by India. In the first edition, all matches took place in the Mumbai Football Arena, Mumbai. In 2019, Ahmedabad hosted the tournament in TransStadia Arena.

Lebanon is the best-ranked in FIFA rankings among the four teams. Lebanon is ranked 99th followed by India on 101st. Vanuatu is ranked 164th while Mongolia is ranked 183rd.
Format
The format of the tournament is that the four teams will participate in a round-robin. Every team will play the other three teams once. After the round-robin format is completed, the top two teams will play the final.
