AB de Villiers has lifted the lid on the details of the four-point advice he gave Virat Kohli during India vs. England series this year in March. He revealed the details of the conversation in an interview by Danish Sait on ‘Bold Diaries” shared on RCB’s youtube channel.
He told Danish that he had advised the Indian skipper to focus on the basics of the game. ” Four points. See the ball. Still head. Allow the ball to come into your space. Body language and attitude, and we sort of elaborated around those four points”- he quoted.
He further went on to elaborate that these are the basic rules of the game that one forgets to follow when going through a lean patch. “Those are the kind of little things you forget. It seems so simple, but when you are struggling to find your rhythm, your momentum you really don’t think like ‘ keep my head still, let the ball into my space’, you almost want to go and fetch it, you want to score the runs quickly “- he added.

He revealed further that Virat’s message didn’t come as a surprise to him- “We spoke about a couple of things away from the game and then also a couple of technical things but it was very basic. I have been wanting to tell him for quite a while because I was watching him for a few months, and he sort of looked like he was quite tense at the crease with his whole game. So I really wasn’t surprised when I saw his message.”
Towards the end of the conversation, de Villiers added that acting confident is as important as being confident because it actually helps you be confident and enjoy the game.
