After witnessing the low-scoring encounters at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, the fans finally got to watch an interesting high-scoring match as Delhi Capitals locked horns with Punjab Kings in the evening game on Sunday, April 18. Delhi Capitals, after giving an impressive performance, won the match by six wickets and moved to the second position on the points table stunningly.
Punjab Kings’ opening players KL Rahul and Mayank Agarwal dominated the opponent team’s bowlers as they completed the partnership of 122 runs in just 12.4 overs. The skipper Rahul showcased his magic and played a knock of 61 runs off 51 balls whereas Mayank wasn’t left behind and as he smashed 69 runs in just 36 balls.
However, towards the end, PBKS’s pace seemed to slow down and they fell five short of posting 200 runs. Chasing the mark of 196 runs, DC also started on a great note as Prithvi Shaw and Shikhar Dhawan smashed the Punjab bowlers.
Though during the game sometimes, the Delhi boys stumbled a little, Shikhar Dhawan took the responsibility and played his finest knock. Marcus Stoinis and Lalit Yadav also contributed as they added 27 off 13 deliveries. Thus, Delhi Capitals impressively chased the target and won the match with ten balls still remaining.
