In a great feat, Indian Skipper Virat Kohli has been named as ‘Wisden Almanack’s ODI cricketer of the 2010s’. Alongside Kohli, Former Indian cricketers Sachin Tendulkar and Kapil Dev too were awarded ODI Cricketer of the 1990s and ODI Cricketer of the 1980s respectively.
Wisden on his website said, “To commemorate the 50th anniversary of the first One-Day International, five ODI cricketers of the decade have been named in the 2021 edition of the Wisden Cricketers’ Almanack,” the reference book, often described as Bible of Cricket, stated. It further said, “One cricketer has been named for each of the decades between 1971 and 2021, with India captain Virat Kohli taking the award for the 2010s,”
Virat Kohli, the 32-year-old has been one of the most flamboyant cricketers of this current era. He has scored 12,169 runs in 254 ODI matches and 7490 runs in 91 test matches, averaging 59.1 and 52.4 respectively.
