It was another disappointing day for the Kolkata Knight Riders and Andre Russell as he once again got dismissed for a low score. The West Indies all-rounder came it to bat at no.7 when his team was 61/4 and his team needed an important and good finish to the innings. The onus was on Russell as he had to perform in the way he is known for. His hard-hitting play which converts any low score into a defendable score had surely the right to come but the innings was cut short by Chris Morris in the 18th over as he got dismissed for 9 runs for just 7 balls. His six off the very last ball before his dismissal raised hopes for a blistering inning but ended low on the ladder as he was caught in the deep by David Miller while going for a big shot.
With this Morris also got the better of Russell for the 4th time in the IPL over the years.
Russell has been dismissed for the second time in single figures the first being in his team’s first match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad where he got dismissed for just 5 runs. The situation is indeed very alarming for the Knight Riders as they could fall short of their desired scores without Russell’s finish to the innings.
