IPL 2021 was announced to be suspended indefinitely on the 4th of May due to an increase in COVID-19 cases in various franchises. Since then many of the overseas players have either already left for their home or have reached their countries. Recently Trent Boult along with his New Zealand mates has also reached home.
Upon reaching home he expressed solidarity for India and thanked the Indian people for giving him a lot of love. He also thanked Mumbai Indians management for helping him reach his home safely.
In the Instagram post he shared, he quoted
My heart goes out to the people of India, while I am sad to be leaving the @mumbaiindians family and see the IPL come to an end, none of that compares to the suffering many people are going through right now.
India is a place that has given me so much as a cricketer and person. I have always deeply appreciated the support that I’ve received from my Indian fans. This is a tragic time and I hope things can improve soon. I look forward to returning to this beautiful country when I can.
Thank you again to the @mumbaiindians for getting us all home and going above and beyond to ensure health and safety were the priority for all of the players and families.
Please take care, look after one another and stay strong – Kia Kaha 💙
To his pos, post-Mumbai Indians responded on its official Twitter handle by quoting
