Punjab King’s captain KL Rahul has now scored 331 runs in 7 matches with an average of 66.20 and is the leading run-scorer in the IPL 2021. Rahul is now followed by Shikhar Dhawan who is 20 runs shorter than him and played the same number of matches. Rahul scored 91 runs against Royal Challengers Banglore to climb on top of the orange cap table.
Rahul came to open against Bangalore and made a slow start as usual. But after settling his feet down with the Universe Boss Chris Gayle, he changed his gears and played his natural cricketing shots. Rahul played the whole 20 overs for Punjab Kings as they struggled in the middle overs. He was 4th in the orange cap table when he came to bat, and ended up being on top giving aside to his national teammate Shikhar Dhawan.
Rahul was the orange cap winner in the last season of IPL. He scored 670 runs with an average of 55 in the UAE. The strike rate last year he had was 129 but now it has slightly increased to 136 as there are 7 more matches left until the playoffs. Rahul has now scored 16 sixes and 27 fours this season.
