On the seventh day of IPL 2021, Rajasthan Royals and Delhi Capitals went face to face here at Wankhede stadium for a chance to climb higher on the points table. Both teams had difficulties with their main players being out of the match but went all out on the pitch.
Rajasthan Royals won the toss and chose to bowl, Sanju Samson’s plan to restrict DC openers from scoring big worked out as Jaydev Unadkat bowled an amazing three-wicket haul to shatter Delhi’s batting order inside the powerplay. Rishabh Pant came in as a savior for Delhi as he stood his ground and scored a half-century in the most crucial moment of the match when Dehli was struggling to score against Rajasthan’s bowling attack. With the help of Pant, Tom Curran, and Lalit Yadav, DC managed to put a total score of 147 in 20 overs.
Chasing a steady score of 148, Rajasthan Royals was in for a shock as their batting order crumbled against Delhi’s bowling attack just like Delhi fell for thier’s, Sanju Samson who went big in his debut match as a captain was sent back to the Pavillion for just 4 runs, Joss Butler and Vohra were also sent back to the stands for just 2 and 9 runs respectively, luckily for Rajasthan, David Miller stood strong and punished Delhi bowlers for a timely 62 runs which refuelled the momentum for Morris, Tewatia and Jaydev Unadkat to take Rajasthan to the finish line with 2 balls left. Chris Morris played a crucial role in getting Rajasthan the win.
Although Rajasthan Royals were successful in winning, efforts from players of both sides won the hearts of fans across the nation, Jaydev Unadkat’s quick 3 wicket haul, Sanju Samson’s superman catch, Rishabh Pant’s timely batting, and Avesh Khan’s continued bowling magic were some of the best moments from the match.
