On the double header Sunday’s evening match between the Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings, the capitals won the toss and chose to bowl first.

Punjab debutant captain Mayank Agarwal scored an amazing 99 runs innings as he left no stone unturned on K L Rahul’s absence, with good support from other batsmen Punjab Kings were successful in putting up a target of 177 runs for 20 overs to the Delhi Capitals.

Chasing a total of 177,  Delhi Capitals were in a shock early in the match as they lost Prithvi Shaw for just 39 runs, and later lost Steven Smith for 24 runs, but opener Shikar Dhawan who played a very experienced anchor role in the last match stood strong on the crease today as he batted well on the pitch scoring continuosly for the team, Dhawan has been consistently providing good batting support for the team since the beginning of the season and has also been the top contenders for the IPL 2021 Orange cap for highest runs alongside Punjab’s K L Rahul and Faf Du Plessis from Chennai Super Kings.

Shikhar Dhawan’s amazing batting performance helped him score another half-century for the team in the crucial innings where they lost one opener early in the match for Harpreet Brar’s bowling, Shikhar Dhawan’s fifty runs while still standing on the crease has provided spark to the team’s batting momentum.

Shikhar Dhawan is currently batting at 57 runs for 38 balls combined by 5 boundaries and 2 massive sixers as Delhi Capitals are at 128 runs for the loss of two wickets.
