The fabulous opener, Shikhar Dhawan’s knock yesterday was one of the biggest reasons why CSK had a negated start in this year’s IPL.
He was indeed in his different aura with the kind of knock that he played. He scored 85 runs off 54 balls with 10 fours and 2 sixes. He alongside Prithvi Shaw had an opening stance of 138 runs and this was enough to reciprocate Delhi’s dominance over Chennai in the 2nd match of VIVO IPL 2021.
Shikhar Dhawan loves playing against the Yellow side and the records affirm that claim. In 23 innings against CSK, he has scores 777 at a strike rate of above 127 and he’s the second-highest run-scorer against CSK after RCB’s Virat Kohli, who has 887 runs in his name.
The 35-year-old has been dropped from the Indian T20 side, despite impressive showing all around. With less than 5 months to go for the T20 World Cup, an impressive showing in the IPL would benefit any player to challenge for the spot and the likes of Dhawan knows this.
Despite the impressive showing, whenever an individual gets dropped, it hurts the morale of that player badly but Dhawan is a strong individual, so he’s just gonna strive forward to show his stature.
