Last night MI promoted Ishan Kishan at number 3. This raised lots of questions. According to the batting order, Suryakumar Yadav should have played at number 3 but he did not and Ishan Kishan played at number 3. Ishan scored 6 runs in 17 balls, this created pressure on MI, and MI lost against PBKS in its last match. In a post-match press conference, Suryakumar Yadav states why MI promoted Ishan Kishan at number 3. He said “Ishan’s promotion was completely management’s call and we decided collectively that if a left-hander gets out and then left-hander walks in. He and I have been playing a similar role in the past few years. So I was completely okay with it. we both decided we’ll do the same way what everyone decides and we were clear in our plans very much”. Thus, Suryakumar Yadav states that it was management’s call to promote Ishan Kishan at number 3.
There are two kinds of batsmen Right-handed and Left-handed. If the batting team keeps both the batsman of the same category then the bowling team will face problems in bowling. in the last match between PBKS and MI, After de Kock who is a left-handed batsman, there was a need for the left-handed batsman to come for batting that is why MI promoted Ishan Kishan and not Suryakumar Yadav at number 3. Since Suryakumar Yadav is a right-handed batsman thus MI tried to use this strategy last night against PBKS but it did not work well.
