There’s no way one could deny that Ravindra Jadeja is an asset to Indian Cricket and Ravindra Jadeja strengthens the team in every aspect. He faced unnecessary criticism in the past and few greats of the game called those criticism ill-mannered in every aspect.
New Zealand Legend All-rounder, Scott Styris understands that Ravindra Jadeja faced unwanted criticism in the past. On a discussion in Star Sports, he had some stuff to say about Sir Jadeja.
He said, “I can tell you from a foreigner’s perspective, I could never understand any of the criticism that came his [Ravindra Jadeja’s] way. He is a terrific cricketer, he can do absolutely everything at the top highest level.”
He continued, “I love his fielding ability. Along with, say a Glenn Maxwell, I think he is probably the best fielder in the world at the moment. And you always separate yourself from your ability to throw the stumps down and affect those run-outs. I think that’s where he is better than everybody else.”
Scott Styris rates Ravindra Jadeja as a complete batsman, he said, “I have been calling it since last year. I thought CSK needed to move him up the order and I am glad it happened this year because he is just that good. He has the ability to be a genuine batsman and then use that power at the end to close games, like a Pollard, like a Hardik Pandya, like an AB de Villiers.”
Ravindra Jadeja’s performance against RCB has been valued as one of the best T20 performances of all time. He smacked Harshal Patel for 37 runs in the last over, picked up 3 crucial wickets and dismissed Australia’s Dan Christian with a rocket arm direct throw, in a single match. He single-handedly dismantled RCB and helped CSK register a thumping victory. A few years back, at the time of the 2019 cricket world cup, Sanjay Manjrekar went extreme and criticised Ravindra Jadeja by calling him, “Bits and pieces player” and Scott Styris although didn’t name him Manjrekar but had his eyes set on it.
