Young all-rounder Shivam Dube has given a huge response to his return to the Indian team. He has said that he is not thinking about a return to international cricket at this time, but is focusing on improving himself more. Dube knows that since the arrival of Hardik Pandya, there is no need for an all-rounder in the Indian team yet. He also said that he is not doing any competition with Pandya.
Speaking to The Times of India, Shivam Dubey said that his focus is now solely on his own improvement.
He said,
As an all-rounder, people saw me as a replacement for Hardik Pandya. Now he is back in the team. In such a situation, there is no more room in the team. But I will say again that my focus is on getting better at the moment. My competition is only by myself. I am not thinking of Hardik Pandya and Future.
Shivam Dube has played 13 T20s and one ODI for India. He scored 105 runs during this period and took five wickets. In the 13 T20I games, he averages 17.50 with bat and 43.20 with ball. Even his single ODI game his performance wasn’t very impressive. As a result, fans demanded the reinstallation of Hardik Pandya to improve the balance of the Indian side. He has not played any international match since February 2020.
He adds,
It would be great to return to the Indian team by performing well in every match but I am not thinking about that now. My focus at the moment is on performing better in the IPL. Becoming a better cricketer is more important than a return to the international team.
