Young batting sensation Abhishek Sharma of SunRisers Hyderabad once again stole the show as he put his batting prowess on show once again on Friday (May 23) during the match against Royal Challengers Bengaluru at the Ekana Stadium in Lucknow.

Abhishek Sharma’s Six Smashes Car Windshield

Abhishek Sharma has become the talk of the town in the ongoing season of the Indian Premier League, all thanks to his power-hitting. On Friday, he was once again at it.

Fans have seen many massive sixes in the IPL over the years, with some even flying over the stadium. But Abhishek did something rarely seen before – he smashed a six so hard that it broke the windshield of a car parked near the stands.

For the unversed, Tata has been a sponsor of the IPL since 2019 and displays its latest cars at matches. Even though the car was parked far behind the boundary, Abhishek’s shot still managed to hit and damage it.

The incident happened in the second over when Abhishek Sharma was batting against experienced bowler Bhuvneshwar Kumar. On the fifth ball of the over, Bhuvneshwar bowled a short delivery, and Abhishek pulled it over deep midwicket. The ball flew through the air and landed right on the car’s windshield, breaking it instantly.

Flashback: Ellyse Perry’s Similar Shot in WPL

A similar incident happened in the Women’s Premier League last year when Ellyse Perry broke the rear window of a Tata Punch EV with a six. Tata later gifted her the broken glass as a keepsake.

In today’s match, Sunrisers Hyderabad were 71/2 after 6 overs, with Ishan Kishan and Heinrich Klaasen batting.

Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head gave SRH a fast start, scoring 54 runs in 4 overs. But both were out in the space of three balls – Sharma made 34 off 17 (out to Ngidi), and Head scored 17 (out to Bhuvneshwar). SRH now look to Klaasen and Kishan to steady the innings and push for a big score.
