Delhi Capitals found a new hero in Ashutosh Sharma, who led his team to a thrilling one-wicket victory over Lucknow Super Giants in the IPL on Monday. The crowd at Visakhapatnam experienced a rollercoaster of emotions as they watched the exciting match unfold.

Ashutosh Sharma’s Heroic Performance Leads DC to One-Wicket Victory

At one point, it seemed like Delhi was out of the game, sitting at 65/5, but Ashutosh played a key role in turning things around. He stayed at the crease until the end, hitting a match-winning six and finishing with an unbeaten 66 off 31 balls. His performance helped DC complete their biggest run-chase in IPL history.

Despite having a weakened pace attack, Lucknow Super Giants made an early impact on Delhi Capitals, who were chasing a massive 210-run target. Shardul Thakur dismissed Jake Fraser-McGurk cheaply on the third ball of the second innings.

Abishek Porel was caught by Nicholas Pooran on the second-to-last ball of the opening over, leaving DC struggling at 6/2. Sameer Rizvi, who had dropped a catch off Nicholas Pooran earlier, was dismissed cheaply for just 4 runs off 4 balls.

DC’s Biggest Run-Chase in IPL History Secured by Ashutosh Sharma

At one point, Delhi Capitals were struggling at 7 for 3 and then 113 for 6. However, Ashutosh Sharma and the lesser-known Vipraj Nigam (39 off 15 balls) came together and added 55 runs quickly. Despite wickets falling at the other end, Ashutosh stayed calm and finished the game in style.

Lucknow Super Giants fell short by 20 runs while batting and suffered because none of their main fast bowlers were available due to injury. It didn’t help that Ravi Bishnoi was hit for 53 runs. Earlier, Delhi Capitals’ bowlers did well in the final overs, restricting Lucknow to 209/8, despite fifties from Mitchell Marsh (72) and Nicholas Pooran (75).

Kuldeep Yadav was the standout bowler with 2 wickets for 20 runs, while Mitchell Starc took 3 wickets for 42 runs in four overs.

Brief Scores:

Lucknow Super Giants: 209/8 in 20 overs (Nicholas Pooran 75, Mitchell Marsh 72; Kuldeep Yadav 2/20, Mitchell Starc 3/42).

Delhi Capitals: 211/9 in 19.3 overs (Ashutosh Sharma 66*; Shardul Thakur 2/19).
