IPL 2025: Delhi Capitals (DC) defeated Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a Super Over to return to winning form in IPL 2025. RR set a target of 12 runs in the Super Over, and DC reached it in just 4 balls.
IPL 2025: Delhi Capitals Clinch Thrilling Win in Super Over
In the DC vs RR Super Over, Rajasthan Royals batted first and scored 11 runs in five balls against Mitchell Starc. They lost two wickets – Riyan Parag and Yashasvi Jaiswal – both run out.
KL Rahul and Tristan Stubbs came in to bat for Delhi Capitals. Rahul started with two runs, then hit a four on the next ball. After taking a single, Stubbs smashed a six to seal a thrilling win for DC.
Earlier in the main match, RR got off to a strong start while chasing 189. Captain Sanju Samson and Yashasvi Jaiswal added 61 runs for the first wicket. But in the last over of the powerplay, Samson had to retire hurt after scoring 31. Riyan Parag couldn’t contribute much and was bowled by Axar Patel for 8.
Jaiswal and Nitish Rana then added 36 runs together before Jaiswal got out for 51 to Kuldeep Yadav. After that, Rana and Dhruv Jurel put on a 49-run partnership. Rana also scored a fifty before getting out for 51.
In the end, RR needed 9 runs from the final over to win. They were the favorites, but Mitchell Starc bowled a brilliant last over for DC. He didn’t give away any boundaries and only allowed 8 runs, which meant the match ended in a tie and went to the Super Over, where DC came out on top.
Delhi Capitals (DC) posted a total of 188/5 after being asked to bat first against Rajasthan Royals (RR). Openers Jake Fraser-McGurk and Abishek Porel gave DC a flying start, scoring 33 runs in just the first two overs. But RR quickly fought back, taking two wickets in the next two overs.
Jofra Archer got rid of Fraser-McGurk for 9 in the third over, and Karun Nair was run out without scoring in the fourth. KL Rahul and Porel then steadied things with a 63-run partnership. Archer broke the stand by dismissing Rahul for 38 in the 13th over.
Soon after, Porel fell just short of his fifty, getting out for 49. DC then got a boost from Axar Patel, who smashed 38 runs off just 14 balls, and Tristan Stubbs, who stayed unbeaten on 38 off 18 balls. Their efforts helped DC reach a strong total. Archer was the best bowler for RR, finishing with figures of 2 for 32.

One small change has made a huge difference. With the use of saliva, the ball is reversing and Starc is twice the bowler.

This super over wouldn't have been possible without Theekshana dropping Ashutosh on the last ball of Delhi's innings. Hail his fielding skills 🙌 #DCvRR

Proper bottle job from RR lol… A potential 3 when Hetmyer hit over covers.. And later a double in the penultimate ball, Jurel saying no… Proper blunder & stupid batting by these two

If Rajasthan loses which I think they will Dhruv Jurel is to be blamed. He should have run 2 when it went to Stubbs. That was a real chance.

It was RR’s game after the power play. It was RR’s game when 9 required to win in the last over with one set batter n other one a powerful hitter.

Great skill under pressure from Starc to defend 9 in the final over and take the game to the super over. Jurel should have gone for the second run on the penultimate ball though. #DCvRR #IPL2025
