Sanju Samson Critiques Rajasthan Royals’ Death Bowling Performance
After the match, Sanju Samson criticized his bowlers for conceding 15-20 extra runs. He also took responsibility for the loss, saying that his wicket was a turning point in the game. He said:
“Around 15-20 runs too many in the bowling. Whenever we wanted to carry the momentum we lost wickets, when me and Hetmyer were batting it was still chaseable but my wicket changed the game.”
Rajasthan Royals captain Sanju Samson also expressed his disappointment with his team’s death bowling and said:
“There was some purchase, the way Jofra bowled and picked Gill’s wicket.. But the way we bowled at the death, we need to look at it in the meeting tomorrow and come back better.”
Sanju Samson further talked about their toss decision and said that they want to respect the conditions of the offer. He said:
“When you lose games we also think should we have chased or batted first, we were expecting these conditions, this was a really good wicket, we want to respect the conditions and want to be a team who can win games while chasing.”
Shubman Gill Discusses Team Contributions and Leadership
In the post-match presentation, Shubman Gill expressed his satisfaction with the score they posted while batting first and gave high praise to Sai Sudharsan and Jos Buttler.
“Good total first up on the board. It wasn’t easy in the first 3-4 overs. Sai and Jos Buttler were tremendous. We will take 220 any day of the week. The way we have been bowling spin is very clinical. Our fast bowlers are doing a tremendous job.”
Shubman Gill further mentioned that they have a team where everyone contributes. He said:
“Everyone is chipping in. If you are having difficulties in choosing the player of the match, that’s a good problem to have, and that’s been our hallmark as a team. Everyone contributes and chips in. Good for us.”
While discussing his bowling unit, Shubman Gill expressed his satisfaction with their performance, stating that they make his job easier. He said:
“Very pleased. When you have got bowlers like we have in our team, the captaincy becomes quite easy. Especially the form that all of our fast bowlers are in makes my job very easy. Whosoever I bring in there is just happy to take wickets and contribute.”
When asked if the senior GT bowlers try to overpower him or dominate him on the field, Shubman Gill replied:
“Everyone is very nice. We have got Ishi bhai (Ishant Sharma) who has played over 100 Test matches but everyone is super nice.”
