Ishan Kishan had a great debut for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in IPL 2025. The left-handed batter showed his skills with the bat against Rajasthan Royals in the second game of the tournament at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium in Hyderabad.
Ishan Kishan Shines on IPL 2025 Debut with Brilliant Century
Ishan Kishan was the standout performer for Sunrisers Hyderabad in their opening game of IPL 2025. The batter played an excellent innings, showcasing his best form in the league and ensuring his team had a strong start to the new season.
Batting at number three, Ishan Kishan came out strong and scored a brilliant century, helping Sunrisers Hyderabad set their second-highest total in the IPL. He also became the first Indian player to score a century for the Orange Army in the league.
The first innings was all about Kishan, as he looked in great form and played some fantastic shots. He reached his half-century in just 25 balls and then needed only 20 more balls to bring up his first century in the league.
Kishan finished with an unbeaten 106 runs off 47 balls, batting at a strike rate of over 225. He hit 11 fours and 6 sixes during his innings. His performance earned him applause from many, including SRH owner Kavya Maran.
Ishan Kishan, who impressed with his batting in the first innings, was injured in the second innings. While trying to stop a boundary in the 18th over, he hurt his knee. Adam Zampa bowled a half-tracker to Shubham Dubey, who pulled it to the leg side. Kishan ran to his left and dived, but couldn’t stop the ball and got hurt in the process. He was in a lot of pain, limping, and received treatment from the physio. Kishan didn’t continue in the game after that.

Ishan Kishan Reflects on His Maiden Century and Team’s Support
Kishan spoke about his innings, expressing his happiness at scoring his first century. He also mentioned how the skipper and team management have given him the freedom and confidence to play his game. Speaking after the first innings, he said:
“Feels good, it was coming for a while. Wanted to get this last season but happy to get that first hundred. The team has put their faith in me, and I want to do my best for them. The captain has given us all a lot of freedom and confidence, hats off to the management. When Abhishek and Head started, they gave a lot of confidence to us batters in the dugout.”
