Gujarat Titans’ main pacer, Mohammed Siraj, shared a warm moment with Sunrisers Hyderabad’s opening batsman, Travis Head, before the start of the SRH vs GT IPL 2025 match.
Mohammed Siraj’s Impressive IPL 2025 Start
After sharing a warm moment, Mohammed Siraj dismissed Travis Head in the first over of the match at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium, Hyderabad, on Sunday, April 6.
Siraj and Head, who had a heated clash during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25, were seen hugging each other before the game began. As Head walked past Siraj, he stopped to chat briefly, and the two were seen smiling and sharing a friendly hug.
Siraj began the bowling for Gujarat Titans as Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma opened the innings for Sunrisers Hyderabad. The battle started on the second ball when Head hit a four off Siraj’s delivery.
Siraj replied with a yorker on the third ball, but Head responded by hitting another boundary on the fourth ball. The fifth ball was a dot, and on the final delivery, Siraj took the big wicket of Head.
Siraj bowled a length ball around middle and leg-stump, and Head attempted a flick toward mid-wicket. However, Sai Sudharsan took a sharp low catch. Siraj was pumped up after removing Head on just the 5th ball, but he kept his celebrations calm.
Mohammed Siraj has been outstanding in the first over of IPL 2025, taking two wickets and giving away just 28 runs in four overs. He has consistently delivered excellent performances for Gujarat Titans.
What Happened Between Siraj and Head During the BGT 2024-25?
Siraj and Travis Head were involved in a heated argument during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 series between India and Australia.
The incident occurred on Day 2 of the second Test in Adelaide when Siraj dismissed Travis Head, who had scored a brilliant 140 runs. Siraj celebrated aggressively, which led to a heated verbal exchange between the two players.
Both players were fined and given demerit points by the ICC for violating the Code of Conduct.
Conflicting Statements After the Incident
After the altercation, Siraj and Head gave conflicting statements about what happened. Siraj claimed that Head had abused him after being dismissed, while Head said he had only jokingly said “well bowled” to Siraj, who then gave him an aggressive send-off.
Before the match against GT, Travis Head told the broadcasters that as an opener, his job is to set the tone for the game. He said:
“As an opening batter, you try and set up the game. Firstly, assess the conditions as quickly as you can. Some days take longer than others to assess. Stay nice, calm, and relaxed. Watch the ball and hit the ball. Give my team the best possible start.”
Mohammad Siraj also dismissed Abhishek Sharma
Mohammad Siraj also dismissed Abhishek Sharma, who had started well for Sunrisers Hyderabad with four boundaries. He looked in good form and seemed ready for a big knock. However, his luck didn’t change, and he was dismissed by Siraj in the 5th over, making it the second wicket for SRH in the powerplay.
Mohammad Siraj bowled a length delivery around middle and leg, and Sharma went for an aerial shot. He didn’t connect well, lofting the ball to mid-on where Rahul Tewatia took an easy catch.
Sharma’s early dismissal frustrated SRH owner Kavya Maran, who was seen visibly upset and murmuring in anger.
