IPL 2025 SRH vs LSG: Pooran And Shardul Gets The Game In Their Favor, Comfortable Victory For LSG (Credits- ESPN)
IPL 2025 SRH vs LSG: In an electrifying match between Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) of IPL 2025, SRH couldn’t touch the projected 200-run figure, closing at 190/9. Shardul Thakur was the star of LSG, taking an impressive 4 for 34. Although 190 was a good target SRH bowlers failed to stop Pooran and Mitchell Marsh who completed half-centuries and made the win inevitable.
On being promoted to bat by LSG captain Rishabh Pant, SRH launched their innings on hopeful lines for an enormous score. Shardul Thakur spoilt those hopes early as he sent packing Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan in the third over itself.
Sharma, pulled a short ball and got caught at deep square leg, whereas Kishan was taken down the leg side, having SRH reduced to 2 for 2.
Travis Head, though, brought the fight back to LSG with some brisk batting. He hit two sixes and a four from Avesh Khan in the next over. In the last over of the powerplay, Head tried a slog sweep off Ravi Bishnoi but was dropped twice—first by Nicholas Pooran at long-on and then by Bishnoi off an ugly return catch.
Even after the wicket loss of Klaasen, SRH’s chances were not yet over with Nitish Kumar Reddy, who was playing a lone hand. But Bishnoi dismissed Nitish for 32 off 28 balls in no time, leaving SRH in a vulnerable position at 116 for 5.
Aniket Verma then came up with some much-needed acceleration, thrashing Bishnoi for two successive sixes followed by more fireworks against Digvesh Rathi. However, Verma fell for a blistering 36 off 13 balls in the 16th over, and shortly afterward, Abhinav Manohar was caught by Shardul Thakur at deep point.
In the latter stages, Pat Cummins lost his cool, scoring 6, 6, 6 off the first three deliveries he faced, introducing some thrill to SRH’s innings.
His cameo was, however, short-lived as he got out on the fourth ball. Though the innings got a flying start, SRH could muster only 10 runs from the last two overs and finished their innings at 190/9.
Pooran had a thrilling 70-run knock, hitting 6 fours and 6 sixes in 26 deliveries. His fearless strategy appeared to make the game out of SRH’s reach, but he was later run out by Pat Cummins after getting caught LBW. Even though Pooran had left early, his presence had a significant contribution in bringing LSG near the target.
Mitchell Marsh picked up the momentum with a solid 52 runs from 31 balls. He had 7 fours and 2 sixes in his knock, as he stabilized the chase with Pooran. Marsh’s consistent innings formed the platform for LSG, keeping them well ahead of the required run rate during their pursuit.
In the last overs, David Miller (13* from 7 balls) and Abdul Samad (22* from 12 balls) were not out and guided LSG towards victory. The duo won the game in 16.1 overs, which saw LSG emerge comfortably by 5 wickets. SRH, though picked up some wickets in the process of chasing, failed to disrupt the run flow of Pooran and Marsh.
Pat Cummins was SRH’s bowler pick who took 2 key wickets, but that was not sufficient to prevent LSG from winning.
Earlier in the game, SRH came out to bat first after LSG had won the toss. They scored a total of 190/9, with Travis Head leading the charge with 47 runs from his bat, inclusive of 5 fours and 3 sixes. Nitish Reddy added a 32-ball 32, while Aniket Verma scored 36 runs for the side. Heinrich Klaasen contributed 26 runs, but SRH’s innings were cut short by LSG’s bowlers.
Shardul Thakur was the pick of the bowlers with the ball, taking a staggering 4 wickets for a mere 34 runs, leaving SRH on their heels. Avesh Khan, Digvesh Rathi, Ravi Bishnoi, and Prince Yadav each chipped in with a wicket, as LSG’s balanced bowling lineup was on display.
In SRH vs LSG of IPL 2025, Lucknow Super Giants showed resilience and dominance by getting back from their first loss to achieve an impressive 5-wicket victory against Sunrisers Hyderabad. Nicholas Pooran’s destructive innings, coupled with Mitchell Marsh’s consistent knock, guided LSG to a comfortable win.
Shardul Thakur’s spectacular bowling performance made SRH’s batting efforts useless in posing any serious threat. LSG have finally scored their first points on the board and will try to carry on their winning spree in the tournament.
