Former Pakistan cricketer Tanvir Ahmed made a strong statement about the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) during the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025. He claimed that many of the IPL franchises are linked to match-fixers.
Tanvir Ahmed’s Explosive Claim on IPL and BCCI
His comments came after the IPL was in the news for match-fixing, especially after the Rajasthan Royals were accused of it following their close loss to the Lucknow Super Giants in the 2025 season. The match took place at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur.
Jaideep Bihani from the Rajasthan Cricket Association raised concerns after the Rajasthan Royals failed to chase 9 runs in the final over against Lucknow Super Giants, losing by 2 runs. It was the second time this season they lost a close match, with a similar situation happening earlier against Delhi Capitals in a Super Over.
After facing criticism, the Rajasthan Royals released a statement and wrote to the BCCI, saying the allegations were made just to stir controversy.
Tanvir Ahmed’s Tweet Adds Fuel to the Fire
Amid the controversy, Tanvir Ahmed made a bold statement. He said that while the BCCI calls the IPL the biggest league in the world, it also has the biggest fixing scandals. Taking to his Twitter, Tanvir Ahmed said:
“BCCi bolta ha humari IPL duniya ke sab say bari league ha han woh tou ha lekin fixing bhi sab say bari hote ha ziyada tar to team’s fixer’s kay pass hain”
(Which roughly translates to: BCCI tells that our IPL is the biggest league in the world. Yes that it is but the biggest fixing also happens and most of the teams are with the fixers).”

Rajasthan Royals were banned in 2015 and missed two IPL seasons due to fixing issues. In IPL 2025, they’re struggling, sitting 8th with just 2 wins, and must win all remaining games to reach the playoffs.
