The IPL auction 2022 saw some heated bidding as clubs attempted to form their respective lineups as best as they could. Some of the greatest names were auctioned off, with a few surprises thrown in for good measure. Ishan Kishan was the most expensive purchase in the IPL 2022 auction, with the Mumbai Indians paying a record Rs 15.25 crore for the wicketkeeper-batter. The ten franchises sold a total of 204 players and spent Rs 551.70 crore. However, there were a few famous names who did not find takers at the IPL auction.

Suresh Raina

Raina, at 35 years old, appears to be in fine shape, but his basic price of Rs 2 crore may have frightened some of the clubs. Raina again struggled mightily in the 2021 season, scoring only 160 runs in 12 matches at a pathetic 17.77 average.

Steve Smith

Surprisingly, the Australian run-machine got no takers in the IPL auction 2022. His total experience may have been beneficial to some of the clubs, but no one chose to take a chance on him.

Shakib Al Hasan

His dismal performance in the IPL 2021 may have worked against him. Shakib scored only 47 runs in eight matches for KKR and took only four wickets.

Imran Tahir

The renowned South African spinner is now 42 years old, and his starting bid of Rs 2 crore may have been the reason he failed to find a buyer at the auction.

Aaron Finch

The Australian white-ball skipper has showed flashes of skill in the IPL but has yet to regularly perform effectively.

David Malan

According to the ICC rankings, the Englishman was the top hitter in T20Is, but he has slowly dropped down the pecking order in recent times.

Eoin Morgan

The England white-ball captain led the Kolkata Knight Riders to the IPL 2021 final, where they were defeated by the Chennai Super Kings. Despite KKR’s excellent run to the final, Morgan struggled with the bat.

Chris Lynn

Lynn, one of Australia’s most lethal hitters, has struggled to recreate his BBL heroics in the IPL.

Tabraiz Shamsi

In the one-day internationals against India, the South African spinner demonstrated his abilities. Shamsi is the second-ranked bowler in the T20I format, but despite his qualifications, clubs have shown astonishingly little interest in him.

Adil rashid

Adil Rashid is ranked third in the ICC’s T20I player rankings, but that knowledge was unnoticed by the franchises, who chose to ignore him.
