Is Floyd Mayweather Going Broke?

Floyd Mayweather is arguably the greatest boxer of all time. He stands tall with an undefeated record of 50-0, along with world titles across five weight divisions.

Moreover, along with having a tremendous record inside the ring, he is also known as the most lucrative fighter of all time. He is estimated to have made over $1 billion from his boxing career, which puts him in a league of his own.

However, recent developments suggest that Floyd Mayweather may not be as rich as he seems. Considering the money Mayweather earned throughout his boxing career, it would not be unreasonable to think he doesn’t need to fight again. However, here we are in 2026, and Mayweather has three bouts lined up across the next eight months.

For those unaware, Mayweather will take on Mike Tyson in April, Mike Zambidis in June, and Manny Pacquiao in September. Moreover, another thing that suggests he may not be as rich as he seems is that Floyd Mayweather is no stranger to tax debt. He previously petitioned the IRS for an extension to pay his overdue bill, even though he regularly flaunts expensive things and million-dollar purchases.

Floyd Mayweather still owes Logan Paul $1.5 million

Floyd Mayweather took on Logan Paul in an exhibition matchup back in 2021. The fight went on as expected, as Mayweather looked to have cruised through eight rounds against Paul.

However, he reportedly went behind Logan Paul’s back and sold the fight using Paul’s name in the Middle East and got paid $10 million for it. While Paul should’ve gotten his 15% cut, he didn’t.

As a result, Paul has gone ahead and sued Mayweather, and the case still continues. Moreover, it is reported that he owes a lot of money to a lot of people apart from Paul. So, by the looks of it, even if Mayweather is not broke, it does look like he is not in the best financial position.

That said, the reason for fighting three times this year does seem to be because of Floyd Mayweather’s financial problems.
