Jorge Martin started his 2025 campaign as the reigning world champion, having made history with Pramac-Ducati in 2024 before making a high-profile switch to Aprilia. The move was expected to be huge for Aprilia; however, its campaign has been nothing short of bad luck.
He started his season by missing out on the first few races due to a series of injuries, and as he made his comeback at the Qatar MotoGP, he suffered from another crash that sidelined him for most of the season so far. As a result, Martin hasn’t scored a single championship point, and Aprilia has struggled, failing to secure any podium and sitting last in the Constructors’ Standings.
Will Jorge Martin Leave Aprilia?

Now, speculation has it that Jorge Martin’s future at Aprilia is looming with uncertainty after reports have emerged regarding his potential exit from the Aprilia contract at the end of 2025, despite an original two-year deal. The key detail in the performance clause in his contract was that if he fails to be among the top three riders in the standings after the French MotoGP, he could activate the clause and leave at the end of 2025, rather than 2026.
Given his injuries and absence from most races, he currently sits at the bottom of the standings, technically making the conditions just right for his exit. While Aprilia and Jorge Martin have not commented on the same publicly, the speculations are strong and tight.
Martin’s Options If He Leaves Aprilia

If Jorge Martin decides to leave Aprilia, he will be a highly sought-after rider, the reigning world champion. If a seat opens up, Ducati may reconsider Martin, given his success with the team. Meanwhile, other teams like Yamaha, KTM, and Honda could also pursue Martin to intensify their lineup. However, Martin may also consider emerging teams or new manufacturers eyeing an entry in the 2026 MotoGP season.
Who Could Replace Him?
If Martin leaves Aprilia, several names could replace him. Marco Bezzecchi, who is already at Aprilia, could be the first contender to replace him as the team leader. Raul Fernandez or Ai Ogura are already riding Aprilia and could be considered for a top position. However, Aprilia might look to poach a top rider from another team or sign a rising star from Moto2.
