India Men’s Hockey Team’s preparation for the upcoming Olympic games that are scheduled to take place in Paris from July 26. One of the players who has been a constant part of the team since 2018 is Jarmanpreet Singh having made his international debut in the Hockey Champions Trophy held that year. Jarmapreeet has rarely missed a match since then and played his 100th international game for the country in the recently concluded FIH Pro League.
Jarmanpreet Hopeful Of Making His Olympic Debut
The Environment
Talking about the environment of the team leading into the Olympics Jarmanpreet said “The chemistry in the team is exceptional. We have regular player meetings off the pitch where we discuss previous games and ways we can help each other on the pitch.”
The Preparation
When asked about the readiness of the team for the Olympic Games Jarmanpreet said that the team is committed to one goal and will give their best to achieve it. In the words of Jarmanpreet “The whole team is pulling in the same direction, and I feel we are in good rhythm. Like all the other players, I always try to give my best on the pitch and hope to make the squad for the Olympics.
It would be a matter of great pride for me and my family if I play in my first Olympic Games at the Paris 2024 Olympics—a dream come true. If I do get selected, my aim would still be to give my hundred percent for the team, as the team always comes first.”

The Introspection
Reflecting on his performance in the FIH Pro League 2023/24 where Jarmanpreet played his 100th game for India he said “The FIH Hockey Pro League 2023/24 matches in Antwerp and London turned out to be a good experience. We had the opportunity to test ourselves against different teams that employ various structures.
These matches helped us pinpoint areas for improvement in our game while also reaffirming our strengths. Winning the Player of the Match against Germany was a pleasant feeling.”

The Performance
If we talk about the recent performances of the Indian Men’s Hockey Team it hasn’t been as per expectations as the team slipped to fourth spot in the FIH Pro League 2023/24 from a position where they had the chance of finishing in the top two. The Hamanpreet Singh-led side would hope to put up a better show in the Paris Olympics 2024.
