Reigning MotoGP World Champion Jorge Martin has been discharged from the hospital in Qatar after a devastating crash during the Qatar MotoGP, which left him with serious injuries. The incident occurred on Lap 14 when Martin lost control of his bike at a high-speed right-hand corner. As he slid across the track, he was struck by fellow rider Fabio Di Giannantonio, who later called it the “worst scene of my life.”

The collision left Jorge Martin with 11 broken ribs and a collapsed lung. Jorge Martin’s injury left him in the hospital for over a week, where doctors worked to stabilise his lung. The injuries caused severe pain and limited his movement, requiring in constant monitoring.

On 20 April, Jorge Martin’s injury was deemed stable, and he was finally released from the hospital but remained in Qatar for a few extra days as a precaution. He shared a post on his Instagram, writing, “Finally out of the hospital. Thank you all for the messages and for supporting me through this tough time in my life. I’m still in a lot of pain, but everything is under control. I’ll stay in Qatar for a few more days as a precaution, and as soon as I can, I’ll head home to rest and be with my people. Hope it’ll be very soon.”

Aprilia Racing confirmed that he will be back in Europe once medically cleared, with assistance during travel. This crash marks the third Jorge Martin’s injury in 2025. Earlier, he hurt his hand and foot during preseason testing in Malaysia, followed by a broken wrist in a training accident. His comeback in Qatar was meant to be a fresh start, but the crash forced him back to rehabilitation.

His return in 2025 has been a matter of discussion as doctors have said rushing his comeback could further damage Jorge Martin’s injury. For now, Lorenzo Savadori will continue racing for Aprilia Racing, he will start his campaign at the Spanish MotoGP in the upcoming weekend.
