Reigning MotoGP World Champion Jorge Martin is set to make his comeback in the MotoGP season 2025 after he was sidelined from the first few rounds due to a series of injuries he sustained during the pre-season activities. Now, he’s all set to begin his 2025 season at the Qatar Grand Prix, which is scheduled for 13 April 2025. 

His decision is a testament not just for his physical recovery but also his mental health. However, the Spaniard has admitted that his return will not be easy, stating, “I’m not sure I’ll be able to finish the race. I don’t know how my physical fitness will be – undoubtedly not 100%.”

Martin’s journey back to the grid has been filled with challenges. His troubles began during the pre-season testing in Malaysia, where a high-speed crash resulted in multiple fractures in his right hand and left foot. Further, he sustained a wrist fracture after removing previous injuries. Jorge Martin is now at the last position at the points table, and he revealed the mental toll the injuries took on him, “Physically, I’m not even sure I’ll be able to finish the race, but if we can manage, it will be a victory because that will mean that I’m beginning to recover.”

Despite these mental and physical challenges, his return is marked by a positive attitude towards both the race and his physical being. Aprilia confirmed his particular following a final medical check-up. Reflecting on his experiences from the previous seasons, he stated, “I’m not focused on winning like in 2024. The goal is now about improving gradually”

His resilience has earned him widespread support within the MotoGP community. He further said about his return, “I have a great desire to be back on the track, and I’m happy to at least be able to try and race in Qatar. The goal will be to build up a bit of confidence with the RS-GP25 and to begin to turn some laps. We need to take one step at a time to try and get back to our normal level as soon as possible.”

While expectations are high, Jorge Martin’s return is a significant step in the MotoGP 2025 season. From fearing he might never ride again to stepping back to the grid, he is a true example of the indomitable human spirit.
