The Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir created history at ongoing Khelo India Youth Games. Their team clinched the championship trophy in volleyball at the seventh edition of the Games that is going on in Bihar.
The J&K UT squad defeated Uttar Pradesh in a final match with a 3–1 set win. The final scoreline stood at 35-33, 19-25, 25-17, 25-21. This was the first time Jammu and Kashmir won the title.
The team had an unbeaten run at the games. Akash Manhas, Sahib Kaler, Wani Mahir, Nitin, Sahil Shameem, Mohit, and Kunal- all delivered in the overall performance of the team.
Captain Wani Mahir led from the front guiding the team under pressure, especially in high-matches like the semifinals and final.
Ahead of the start of the Khelo India Youth Games, the Jammu and Kashmir team held a coaching camp at MA Stadium, Jammu, to prepare for the tournament. Head Coach Naresh Kumar (DYSS), assisted by Prateek Kumar (SAI Jammu) and Shubham Sharma (DYSS Akhnoor) guided the players.

The 14-member squad consisted of promising talents from across Jammu and Kashmir: Sahib Kalear, Akash Manhas, Ganik Sharma, Sahil Shamim, Nasir Ajaz Sofi, Karan Rajput, Nitin, Wani Mahir, Abid Gulzar, Bilal Ahmed, Sandeep Singh, Mohit Singh, Kunal Goran, and Rehan Parvez.
