Khelo India Youth Games 2025 saw Anjali Rawat from Madhya Pradesh clinched the gold medal in Thang Ta (Phunaba Ama 56 kg category).
Madhya Pradesh players won 1 gold, 3 silver and 1 bronze medals on Wednesday in the competition. Satyam Dangi bagged the silver medal in the Phunaba Anisuba 56 kg category. Jasrit Naur secured the silver medal after tough matches in boxing (60-65 kg category).
Thang Ta is a classical Meitei traditional martial art form. It is originated in the ancient Kangleipak (present day Manipur state). It is practised using shiled and knife.
It is one of the traditional sport that is took place in Khelo India Youth Games 2025 which is being held in various cities of Bihar and in New Delhi.
This is the seventh edition of the Khelo India Youth Games in which around 5000 participants took part. The sports meet featured 28 disciplines, featuring Olympic, non-Olympic and indigenous sports like mallakhamb, yogasana and kho kho.
The Khelo India Youth Games, part of the Indian government initiative to boost sports in the country, are contested as a team championship, where individual and team performances contribute to each state or Union Territory’s overall medal tally. The contingent with the most gold medals is crowned champion.
