Following the incident, Pollard has been charged under Article 2.3 of the IPL Code of Conduct, which deals with the use of audible obscenities during a match. The statement also noted that he accepted the sanction imposed by match referee Pankaj Dharmani.
“Pollard was found to have breached article 2.3 of the IPL’s Code of Conduct, which relates to “use of an audible obscenity during a match.” Pollard used abusive language towards the fourth umpire in the 19th over of the high-voltage clash in IPL 2026 match no. 58. “Pollard admitted to the offence and accepted the sanction imposed by Match Referee, Pankaj Dharmani.”
Mumbai Indians endured a disappointing IPL season as they managed to secure only four wins this season. MI was the first team to be eliminated from the play-offs race. Tilak Varma powered the five-time champions to a six-wicket victory, thanks to his impactful knock of 75 off 33 balls, which featured six sixes and six fours.
Punjab Kings playoffs chances look slim
Meanwhile, Shreyas Iyer-led Punjab Kings suffered a huge setback after the loss as their playoffs chances has become slim. PBKS started their IPL 2026 campaign with six consecutive wins, but suffered defeats in back-to-back five matches during a crucial phase. Punjab will be keen to secure victories in their remaining two matches against Royal Challengers Bengaluru and Lucknow Super Giants to qualify for the playoffs, and also hope that a few results go their way to qualify
