Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) won the 2024 Indian Premier League, and there are big hopes for them in the 2025 season. They have a new captain this year and have left out some important players who helped them win last season. There are also rumors that they might return to their classic Black and Gold jersey.
Here’s The Truth Behind The Mystery of KKR’s Jersey Color Change For IPL 2025
The franchise first used black jerseys in the first two seasons, but after things didn’t go well, they switched to purple in 2011. They won three trophies with the purple jersey. Recently, though, some photos have shown KKR players in black and gold jerseys, sparking rumors about a possible color change ahead of their match on March 22.
During photoshoots, players like Rinku Singh and Manish Pandey have been seen in black jerseys. However, these images aren’t from official KKR accounts, and there’s no sign of the black jersey on their official social media. Fans are now speculating that KKR might use the black jersey for away games and keep the purple one for home matches.
All of these rumors seem to be just rumors. Kolkata Knight Riders players have been practicing in their purple jerseys ahead of the season, and if there were any changes to the jersey, the team would have likely announced it by now, with only a few days left before the opening game.

KKR’s Retro Kit Sells Out in Minutes
On the other hand, Kolkata Knight Riders released its retro kit from the inaugural edition of the Indian Premier League. All sizes of the KKR’s jersey, priced at ₹1,499, sold out in less than 10 minutes on the official store. It’s still unclear if the shirt will be restocked, but given the high demand, it’s likely to be available again soon.
