Delhi Capitals star opening batsman KL Rahul has been incredible this season so far. In IPL 2026, Rahul led from the front for his franchise and played a match-winning innings alongside Sri Lankan batsman Pathum Nisanka. He also made the highest individual score by an Indian this season, which is 152 runs. Rahul smashed 433 runs in 9 matches with an explosive strike rate of 185.60, which opened him up to being categorized as a test player, and to proving himself as one of the finest T20 players.

Rahul’s impact as a T20 Player

KL Rahul reflected on how far he has come in white-ball cricket, saying that a decade ago, he would have done anything to be picked in a T20 side. He admitted that early in his career, he was not viewed as a T20 or even a strong limited-overs player and was largely labelled a Test specialist.

He broke the mindset with his game

He said breaking out of that perception and gradually building his game in the shortest format is something he takes real pride in. Rahul added that the journey has not been perfect, acknowledging that he has made mistakes and could have handled certain situations better over the years.

Rahul’s Contribution in this campaign

However, he emphasised that one constant has been his commitment to giving everything he has in every match and preparing thoroughly to give himself the best possible chance to succeed. Looking ahead, he said he still feels he has time left in the game and wants to keep pushing himself to perform well and add more trophies to his career.

KL Rahul’s IPL Career

KL Rahul began his journey with the Royal Challengers Bangalore in 2013. Later on, he played for Sunrisers Hyderabad, Punjab Kings, and Lucknow Supergiants. Currently, he is playing for the Delhi Capitals. In his 13 year career, he played 159 matches with 5675 runs with a superb average of 47.89 . Rahul has scored 6 centuries and 43 half-centuries, while his best score is 152 runs, which is the highest individual score by an Indian in IPL history.
