Lewis Hamilton had reasons to cheer for after the Emilia Romagna Grand Prix. This was the first time he was pleased with his performance with Ferrari since his China sprint win.
The seven-time world champion fought back from 12th place on the grid to finish fourth in the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix.
Hamilton, who is marking his debut season with Ferrari, has not had the results he was expecting. But Briton displayed strong race pace and strategic acumen to deliver an impressive performance in Italy. .
“China was pretty great, but I’ve always loved when you’re fighting from further back and coming through,” Lewis Hamilton said.
“That’s how I started off as a kid. That’s always a better feeling than starting and finishing first. But definitely an absolutely mega race and so many positives to take away.
It is the first time this year he has finished ahead of his team-mate Charles Leclerc, who was sixth in Imola. He said there was more to come from Ferrari.
“I did think we would make an improvement this weekend with something I’ve fixed. And I think there is more to come,” Hamilton said.
“The set-up was really good, the car felt really mega and the team did a fantastic job on strategy and pit stops.

The Emilia Romagna Grand Prix result – Hamilton’s equal best of the year so far in a grand prix – came despite Ferrari’s worst qualifying result of the season, with the 40-year-old and Leclerc starting 12th and 11th, respective.
F1 moves on to Monaco next weekend, and Hamilton was thinking positively about the famous race on the streets of the principality.
