He enjoys a great fan following all around the world and is one of the most loved footballers in the world, however, he is not known for being active on social media outside of commercial posts and family updates. Barcelona’s 4-0 win over Real Madrid at the Bernabeu might have reminded Messi of a similar victory during the 2015-16 La Liga season. On Matchday 12 of that season, Barcelona defeated Real Madrid 4-0 at the Bernabeu, with two goals from Luis Suarez and one each from Neymar and Andres Iniesta.
In that match, Messi entered as a substitute in the 53rd minute, replacing Iniesta when the score was already 3-0. The Argentine star was gradually returning to play after recovering from an ACL injury earlier that year.
The win also got noticed by another former member of the famous MSN trio. Brazilian star Neymar congratulated Barcelona after their historic victory at the Santiago Bernabeu. In an Instagram post showing his fellow Brazilian, Raphinha, celebrating the win, Neymar, now with Al Hilal, commented “Visca Barca,” meaning “Long Live Barca” in Catalan.
Barcelona’s win reinforces the strength of its legacy, reminding fans that the club’s story is built not only by current players but also by legends who still support them.
