Marcelinho departs ATK Mohun Bagan and joins Brazilian club EC Taubate
Marcelinho departs ATK Mohun Bagan.
ATK Mohun Bagan Marcelinho Leite Pereira, has been signed by São Paulo state football league club EC Taubate. The club confirmed it on Saturday.
The Brazilian player signed for Odisha FC at the beginning of the previous season’s ISL before landing up in the Mohun Bagan squad, who he joined from Odisha FC as part of a loan-swap deal in January 2020. Marcelinho previously represented 2020-21 Hero ISL runners-up ATK Mohun Bagan.
Marcelinho played 6 matches for the Mohun Bagan and scored two goals for them in the 2020-21 ISL season for Mariners. The 33-year-old Marcelinho will play now in the Campeonato Paulista Serie A2, the second tier of the Sao Paulo state football league in Brazil.

The Mohun Bagan stated and the in-house media of the club conveyed for the public.
“Marcelinho Leite is the latest reinforcement signing that EC Taubate finalized on Friday. The 33-year-old striker arrived the club last week and has since trained with our first-team squad under Marcelo Martelotte,” their statement read. Marcelinho was also available for comment, as he said, “Taubate’s willingness to count on me made me want to be here. I’m close to home and I have met my new teammates. I am also available now to the coach for game after game, as he sees fit.”

The player have played also for Flamengo’s youth side, Atletico Madrid’s B team, Getafe B, and at multiple Brazilian, Greek, Emirati, and Italian clubs. Marcelinho has scored a total of 33 goals in 79 matches in the Indian Super League (ISL).
