The 2026 FIDE Rating list shows big changes in world chess rankings after events like the Tata Steel Masters and Challengers 2026 and other tournaments. India had mixed results this time. D Gukesh became the only Indian player in the Open category top 10, standing at World No. 10. In women’s chess, Koneru Humpy remained India’s only top-10 player and is ranked World No. 5, showing strong and consistent performance. 

Indian Stars Slip in Rankings in 2026 FIDE Rating List

The 2026 FIDE Rating showed ranking drops for some top Indian chess players after tough results at the Tata Steel Masters. Arjun Erigaisi moved down from World No. 5 to No. 11 after losing rating points. R Praggnanandhaa also dropped from No. 8 to No. 13 after losing 17 rating points during the event. D Gukesh lost a few points and slipped one place, but he still stayed inside the world top 10, showing steady performance.
