During an intense showdown in the ILT20 2025 between MI Emirates vs Sharjah Warriorz, Romario Shepherd delivered a strong all-around performance that helped MI Emirates round the first match victory in the tournament.

With an exciting batting performance at the end of the game, as well as an outstanding final over, he led MI Emirates to a nail-biting four-run victory, keeping Sharjah Warriors searching for their first points.

Final Over Heroics: Shepherd Holds Nerve Under Pressure

Thus, the task was not going to be easy for Shepherd while defending 11 runs in the final over against experienced finisher Dinesh Karthik and dangerous lower-order hitter Adil Rashid.

Right after starting with a wide, he responded with pinpoint yorkers that proved too good for Karthik, removing him and restricting the Warriorz at the death. Despite Sharjah being in control earlier, it was Shepherd’s clutch bowling that sealed the MI Emirates vs Sharjah Warriorz contest.

Sikandar Raza’s Blazing Fifty Places Warriorz on Top

Sikandar Raza was the star of the show for Sharjah Warriorz, gunning a quick-fire 64 to leave his team in a dominant position. Coming in at 48/3, Raza quickly counter-attacked, hitting boundaries in the ninth over, smashing Shakib Al Hasan for back-to-back sixes, and taking on Shepherd to help Warriorz reach 151/3 after 15 overs, with only 35 runs to chase in the final five.

However, momentum changed drastically when AM Ghazanfar dismissed Raza and Dwaine Pretorius in the same over, derailing the chase, setting up Shepherd’s match-winning finish.

Shepherd’s explosive 31 gives Emirates a strong total

Earlier, MI Emirates owed their competitive score of 185/8 largely to Shepherd’s late hitting. Jonny Bairstow provided a solid start to the side, which Muhammad Waseem carried on after the dismissal of Bairstow. The double breakthrough of Adil Rashid, removing Nicholas Pooran and Waseem in the same over, pegged Emirates back.

Shakib Al Hasan, despite looking positive, retired out with four overs left to allow the big hitters to take over. While Kieron Pollard couldn’t fire, Shepherd stepped up, smashing back-to-back sixes off Maheesh Theekshana before finishing the innings with two more consecutive sixes. His unbeaten 31 off 10 balls pushed Emirates past 180, a total that proved just enough in the MI Emirates vs Sharjah Warriorz thriller.
