However, momentum changed drastically when AM Ghazanfar dismissed Raza and Dwaine Pretorius in the same over, derailing the chase, setting up Shepherd’s match-winning finish.
Shepherd’s explosive 31 gives Emirates a strong total
Earlier, MI Emirates owed their competitive score of 185/8 largely to Shepherd’s late hitting. Jonny Bairstow provided a solid start to the side, which Muhammad Waseem carried on after the dismissal of Bairstow. The double breakthrough of Adil Rashid, removing Nicholas Pooran and Waseem in the same over, pegged Emirates back.
Shakib Al Hasan, despite looking positive, retired out with four overs left to allow the big hitters to take over. While Kieron Pollard couldn’t fire, Shepherd stepped up, smashing back-to-back sixes off Maheesh Theekshana before finishing the innings with two more consecutive sixes.
