Michael Clark is a former Australian cricketer who played on the national team for 13 years, from 2003 to 2016. He was an attacking right-handed batsman and a right-arm medium-speed bowler. Clark was born in Kempsey, New South Wales, and had a lot of talent from a very young age. At 16 years old, he made his New South Wales first-class debut. In 2004, he played against India in his first Test for Australia. He scored a century, his highest score ever, in that match.

Clark’s first ODI was against England in 2004, and he scored five centuries in the format. He was part of the Australian team that won the 2007 ICC World Cup. He also played in the 2011 and 2015 tournaments, where Australia came in second. Clark was the Australian team’s vice-captain in 2012 and 2013, and he captained the side in an ODI against Sri Lanka in 2012. He was also the captain of the Australian T20I team in 2010 and 2011.

He left international cricket in 2016 after a long and successful career. He got 8,628 runs in Tests, 7,981 runs in ODIs, and 1,149 runs in T20Is. He was also the first Australian batsman to score a century in all three game types. He was put into the Australian Cricket Hall of Fame in 2020.

  • In 2012, Captain Michael Clarke won his third Allan Border Medal as Australia’s cricketer of the year. He also won honors for being a Test player and almost won the one-day international award.
  • Clarke’s top cricketer title ranks second all-time, behind former captain Ricky Ponting, who has won it four times in its 13-year history.
  • Clarke got 231 votes from players, reporters, and umpires. Mike Hussey was second with 174 votes, and Shane Watson was third with 166 votes.
