Miralem Pjanic joined FC Barcelona as part of a dodgy swap deal between the Spanish club and Juventus. Arthur Melo was sent the other way to Turin, as part of the deal. The deal took place under Barcelona’s previous president, Bartomeu.
The deal was widely seen as an unfancy way of balancing their finances.
The Bosnian midfielder rarely featured for the Blaugrana. Ronaldo Koeman, who arrived after the signing of the Bosnian was never a huge fan of the midfielder.
The Spanish giants are in financial turmoil. Pjanic is easily one of the best-paid players at the club. As a result, Barcelona tried to offload Pjanic off the books in the window.
Pjanic gathered interest from his former club, Juventus. Due to the player’s high wages, the Turin club withdrew their interest.
