Mohammad Nabi is widely regarded as Afghanistan’s greatest cricketer. Over the past 18 years, the 40-year-old has featured in more than 440 T20 matches, representing over 40 different teams across the world.
Mohammad Nabi: A Legend of Afghan Cricket
His last T20I appearance for Afghanistan came in December 2024, when he played against Zimbabwe at the Harare Sports Club. These days, Nabi is playing in the Shpageeza Cricket League, turning out for the Mis Ainak Knights. On Tuesday (July 22), he’s back in action once again, this time facing off against the Amo Sharks.
During the first half of the match in Kabul, 40-year-old all-rounder Mohammad Nabi bowled a single over for the Rahmanullah Gurbaz-led side, giving away 12 runs. He came into the attack in the ninth over, but what made headlines wasn’t just his bowling; it was who he bowled to.
First Ball, First Six: Hassan Eisakhil Makes a Statement
On the very first ball, his 18-year-old son, Hassan Eisakhil, launched a massive six off his father’s delivery! The young top-order batter confidently stepped up and sent the ball soaring with a lofted shot, adding six runs to his tally and his team’s score.
A clip of the moment – father getting hit for a six by son, was shared by fans on X (formerly Twitter), and it’s quickly going viral online.

Unlike his father, Mohammad Nabi, who is known for his all-round skills, Hassan Eisakhil is a specialist batter. The 18-year-old has already played 25 T20 matches, scoring 599 runs with the help of four half-centuries, a solid start to his young career.
On Tuesday, playing for Amo Sharks, Eisakhil impressed once again by scoring 52 runs off 36 balls, helping his team reach a total of 162 in 19.4 overs. This was his best performance so far in the Shpageeza Cricket League, after scoring 6 and 35 in the first two games.
Eisakhil also represented Afghanistan in the 2024 U-19 World Cup, showing early signs of a promising future.
Interestingly, fans may soon get to witness a rare and emotional moment in cricket history, a father and son playing side by side for their national team. Nabi had initially planned to retire from ODIs after the 2025 Champions Trophy, but he’s now had a change of heart. In an interview with the ICC earlier this year, Nabi shared that he hopes to continue playing so he can represent Afghanistan alongside his son Hassan at the international level.
