Mohammed Shami is Still Eligible to Play for India in the T20 World Cup Team as the ICC Ruling Suggests

Umesh Yadav was selected to fill in for Shami during the most recent Australia series. It’s unclear whether the 32-year-old Bengal pacer will be back in shape for the championship T20 game with less than a month to go.

On October 16, 2022, in Australia, the eagerly awaited T20 World Cup is scheduled to start. 16 countries will compete in the premier competition. Eight teams have already qualified for the championship game, and the remaining eight will compete in first-round games to fill four spots in the “Super 12” stage. Namibia, the Netherlands, Sri Lanka, and the United Arab Emirates will compete in Group A; Ireland, Scotland, the West Indies, and Zimbabwe will fight in Group B; both groups will consist of eight teams. The eight eligible teams will participate in the “Super 12” stage together with the winners and runners-up of each group.

For the cricket spectacular, all 16 teams have officially revealed their lineups. Even if their players are not at risk for any injuries, they still have until October 9 to make adjustments to it. They would have to get permission from the ICC to make apologies after the deadline.

Some teams may seriously consider changing their roster in light of recent results, which have thrown a wrench in the works. However, Australia might consider giving him an opportunity in light of his outstanding performance in the T20Is against India.

Both detractors and supporters of India have backed Mohammed Shami, particularly in light of the pace unit’s recent uninspiring performances. They believe Shami will do better than the other bowlers because of his pace and experience, which may prove helpful in Australia. The skilled bowler is currently a reserve player.

Due to his ongoing Covid-19 illness, Shami has reportedly been forced to withdraw from India’s three-match T20I series against South Africa. He also missed the series against Australia. His replacement has been announced as Umesh Yadav. With the international competition less than a month away, it is questionable if the 32-year-old pacer will get back in shape.

The following players will represent India in the ICC T20 World Cup: Rohit Sharma, KL Rahul, Virat Kohli, Arshdeep Singh, Harshal Patel, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Jasprit Bumrah, Axar Patel, Yuzvendra Chahal, Rishabh Pant, Deepak Hooda and Suryakumar Yadav.
