‘NOT RULED OUT’: Sourav Ganguly, President of the BCCI, Dispels Rumour of Bumrah’s Withdrawal from the T20 World Cup

Amidst the ongoing scuttlebutt that has been going around Bumrah’s participation in the upcoming T20 World Cup due to his back injury, the President of BCCI, Saurav Ganguly has finally stepped in and gave a firm statement on Bumrah’s participation in the upcoming World Cup.

The rising hope for the bowling unit of India’s playing XI, Jasprit Bumrah made a much anticipated comeback from a long injury lay off during the T20I series against Australia. The pace spearhead was last seen playing against Australia in the 2nd and 3rd match of T20I series against Australia in Nagpur and Hyderabad, respectively.

While the audience was expecting Bumrah to be a part of India’s playing eleven in the T20I series against South Africa which marked it’s beginning on 28th September, 2022 at the Greenfield Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram, the ace right-arm pacer was ruled out from the list of India’s playing eleven in the series due to the unavoidable back stress fracture complications.

A few minutes before the opening match of the T20I series against South Africa, BCCI posted a tweet that read, “Jasprit Bumrah complained of back pain during India’s practice session on Tuesday. The BCCI Medical Team assessed him. He is ruled out of the first #INDvSA T20I.”

Bumrah’s withdrawal from the T20I series against South Africa is a major blow for the bowling unit of the Indian cricket team and the aspirations of the fans. The men in blue were seen struggling with the death over which triggered Bumrah’s comeback. The sudden withdrawal of the veteran star pacer might prove to be a major setback for the Indian cricket team. Mohamed Siraj replaced Jasprit Bumrah in the opening T20I match against South Africa in Thiruvananthapuram.

According to some sources, Bumrah might be ruled out from international cricket for 4-6 months. This development came as a huge setback for the Indian cricket team and the fans around the nation. Twitter was flooded with rounds of speculations and rants about Bumrah not being a part of T20 World Cup 2022.

Reacting to the ongoing scuttlebutt around Bumrah’s participation in the World Cup 2022 and the changes in the cricket schedule, the President of BCCI has finally opened up and mentioned, “Bumrah is not out of the World Cup yet” in the show of Xtra Time digital channel on September 30.

Blowing off the speculations around Bumrah’s withdrawal, the President of BCCI, and former cricketer, Saurav Ganguly also mentioned that the decision on Bumrah’s participation in the World Cup tournament is yet to be taken. His back condition would be monitored and the decision would be given out by the medical team accordingly in the next 2-3 days.

The comments of Saurav Ganguly have provided a huge relief to the fans of Indian cricket sport who were disheartened by the rumours of Jasprit Bumrah’s withdrawal from the upcoming World Cup tournament.
