Prashant Veer and Auqib Nabi grabbed headlines at the Etihad Arena in Abu Dhabi on Tuesday, December 16, after commanding massive bids and rewriting auction records.

Both players etched their names into IPL history by becoming the most expensive uncapped signings ever at an auction. Among them, Prashant Veer stood out as Chennai Super Kings went all in to secure the services of the 20-year-old all-rounder from Uttar Pradesh.

After a fierce bidding battle, Chennai Super Kings finally outbid Sunrisers Hyderabad, who pulled out once the price crossed Rs 14 crore. CSK sealed the deal at a staggering ₹14.2 crore, making Prashant Veer the most expensive uncapped player in IPL auction history.

Veer is a left-arm spinner and a left-handed batter. So far, he has featured in two first-class matches and nine T20 games, scoring 7 and 112 runs respectively. The 20-year-old has also taken 14 wickets for Uttar Pradesh, showing his value as a genuine all-rounder despite limited experience.

Auqib Nabi enjoys a dream rise at the auction:

While Veer stole the spotlight, Auqib Nabi was not far behind. The fast bowler from Jammu and Kashmir entered the IPL 2026 Auction with a base price of just ₹30 lakh. Within minutes, he became one of the most talked-about uncapped players at the table.

In the end, Delhi Capitals won the contest and signed Nabi for ₹8.4 crore. This deal placed him among the most expensive uncapped players in IPL history and made him the joint seventh costliest uncapped signing ever.

Nabi brings solid domestic experience, having played 36 first-class, 29 List A, and 34 T20 matches for Jammu and Kashmir. Across formats, he has taken 125, 42, and 43 wickets respectively. He also contributes with the bat, scoring close to 1300 runs overall.
